Establishment of Tokyo Gas Industry Co., Ltd.
1913
Name changed to Tokyo Gas and Electric Industry Co., Ltd.
1918
Mass production of Japan's first original motor vehicle, Model TGE "A-Type" truck.
1937
Consolidation of automobile Division of Tokyo Gas and Electric Industry Co., Ltd., Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. and Kyodo Kokusan K.K. into Tokyo Automobile Industry Co., Ltd.
1941
Name changed to Diesel Motor Industry Co., Ltd. (Later became Isuzu Motors Limited.)
1942
Separation of Hino Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. from Diesel Motor Industry Co., Ltd.
1946
Marketing of heavy-duty trailer-trucks/buses and diesel engines.
 
Name changed to Hino Industry Co., Ltd.
1948
Separation and re-establishment of Sales Department, Hino Diesel Sales Co., Ltd.
 
Name changed to Hino Diesel Industry Co., Ltd.
1950
Introduction of heavy-duty diesel trucks, buses and trolley buses.

Establishment of Parts depot, Hino Motors (Europe) N.V. in Belgium, started in Antwerp on April 26.

Establishment of Pilipinas Hino Inc.

Marketing of Japan's first body-framed touring coach.
 
Foundation of Hino Motors (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The building in Mechelen, where Hino Motors (Europe) N.V. is located today, was officialy opened April 28.
1980
Start of operations at casting and machinery factories at Nitta Plant.

Marketing of heavy-duty SUPER DOLPHIN truck series equipped with turbo engine with intercooler.

Establishment of P.T. Hino Indonesia Manufacturing.
1984
Establishment of joint venture company, Kuozui Motors, Ltd., in Taiwan.
 
U.S. market entered by establishing a subsidary, Hino Diesel Trucks (U.S.A.), Inc.
1985
Completion of the 2nd proving ground in Gozenyama, Ibaraki Pref.
 
Foundation of Hino Diesel Trucks (Canada) Ltd.
 
Establishment of joint venture company, Hinopak Motors Limited in Pakistan.
1988
Achieved unit sales of 500,000 for medium-duty Hino RANGER Series truck.
1989
Marketing of light-medium and medium-duty CRUISING RANGER truck series.
 
Hino developed the world's first hybrid diesel/electric engine system, Hybrid Inverter-controlled Motor & Retarder (HIMR).
1990
Domestic marketing of S'ELEGA touring coach.
1991
Hino participated in the Camion (Truck) class at the Paris-Dakar Rally, which was the first entry among Japanese manufacturers.
1992
Hino exports its 500,000th vehicle in August.
 
Domestic marketing of heavy-duty PROFIA truck series.
1994
Domestic marketing of medium-duty RISING RANGER truck series.
 
Establishment of Hino Motor Sales Australia Pty Ltd.
 
Establishment of Parts depot, Hino Motors International (U.S.A.), Inc.

Completion of the 3rd proving ground in Memuro, Hokkaido.
 
Domestic marketing of LIESSE small-sized touring coach.

Establishment of Hino Motors Vietnam, Ltd.
 
Completion of Hino Motors 21st Century Center (training facilities, auto plaza), nicknamed Chainon 21.

Hino FT trucks swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the Camion category in the 1997 Dakar Rally.

Domestic marketing of heavy-duty PROFIA TERAVIE truck series over 20 ton. (GVMR)
 
Domestic marketing of MELPHA7 wide small-sized touring coach.
 
Domestic marketing of heavy-duty PROFIA short-cabin truck series.
1999
Domestic marketing of MELPHA9 medium-sized touring coach.
 
Hamura Plant receives ISO14001 certification for environmental management.
 
Hino Motors (Thailand) Limited was established by merging Thai Hino Motor sales, Ltd. With Thai Hino Industry Co., Ltd.
 
Domestic marketing of light-duty DUTRO truck series.
 
The merger of Hino Motors, Ltd. and Hino Motor Sales, Ltd. resulted in a new company Hino Motors, Ltd.
 
Domestic marketing of NON STEP medium-sized route bus.
2000
Nitta Plant receives ISO14001 certification for environmental management.
 
Establishment of Shenyang Shenfei Hino Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
2001
Head Office and Hino Plant receives ISO14001 certification for environmental management.
 
Hino became a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation in August 2001. (TMC owns 50.1%)
